A Collection of Christian Quotes

Considering that I need to get to bed on account of an early-morning exam, I'm postponing our usual study post for a day or two and instead sharing a few of my favorite Christian quotes today.  I hope they're uplifting, challenging, and helpful to you.

Satan watches for those vessels that sail without convoy.
- George Swinock

This is a wise, sane Christian faith: that a man commit himself, his life, and his hopes to God; that God undertakes the special protection of that man; that therefore that man ought not to be afraid of anything.
- George MacDonald

Faith is a living, daring confidence in God's grace.  It is so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies.  If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees.  Let no one go there unwarned or unprayed for.
- Charles H. Spurgeon

To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge, to find the will of God is the greatest discovery, and to do the will of God is the greatest achievement.

Death is not a period but a comma in the story of life.

Earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush is afire with God.  And only he who sees takes off his shoes, the rest sit around and pluck blackberries.

Some Christians haven't even attempted to think about whether or not they would die for Jesus because they haven't really been living for Him.

The Son of God became the Son of man so that the sons of men might become the sons of God.
- Terry Fullarn

The greatest proof of Christianity for others is not how far a man can logically analyze his reasons for believing, but how far in practice he will stake his life on his belief.
- T.S. Eliot

I resolve to endeavor to my utmost to act and think as if I had already seen the happiness of heaven and the torments of hell.

Live your life in such a way, that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip.
- Will Rogers

Christianity is a battle, not a dream.
- Wendell Phillips

WHAT God did makes sense.  It makes sense that Jesus would be our sacrifice because a sacrifice was needed to justify man's presence before God...However, WHY God did it is absolutely absurd.  When one leaves the method and examines the motive, the carefully stacked blocks of logic begin to tumble.  That type of love isn't logical; it can't be neatly outlined in a sermon or explained in a term paper...It IS inexplicable.  It doesn't have a drop of logic nor a thread of rationality.  And yet, it is that very irrationality that gives the gospel its greatest defense.  For only God could love like that.
- Max Lucado

God is the only comfort, He is also the supreme terror...Some people talk as if meeting hte gaze of absolute goodness would be fun.  They need to think again.  They are only playing with religion.
- C.S. Lewis
