First, I'd like to share a music video I just ran across that I love: "Matter of Faith" by Peter Furler:
This week's Bible study tip: Allow for flexibility in your study schedule.
If you have a specific time of day you always do your Bible studies, but something unexpected comes up where someone needs your help, don't just rigidly *insist* that you do your study at that time (like a morning devotional - you can do it later!) or even that day (it's okay to catch up the next day). Now, I am *not* one to advocate treating study time flippantly, but if you're stressed out or exhausted or whatever from trying to help the other person and fit in your study, you are not going to get anything out of the study, anyway...you might as well put it off a few hours or a day until you can actually give God's Word your full attention.
Remember, there are numerous times in the Gospels when Jesus was on his way to some quiet place to pray, but someone who needed help came across His path, so he postponed it to help them - - so, it's clear that God understands and approves. To always put study before others is disgusting religion.
"But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE.'
- Matthew 9:13a
Prayer Requests for the Week:
First of all, thanks to all of you who prayed for my family member last week. He has more travel ahead of him this week, as does another relative of mine. Please pray that God would protect them both as they both do an extensive amount of highway and Interstate driving.
What would you like prayer for? Please let us know by leaving a comment so we can lift it up to God for you.
